SRS Chicago Palatine Gurdwara welcomed Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel J. Goldberg on May 7, 2026, for a community discussion focused on safety, hate crime awareness, and strengthening partnerships with local faith communities.
During the visit, Mr. Goldberg emphasized that the goal of the Cook County Hate Crime Unit is not only to prosecute hate crimes, but also to help prevent them through education, community engagement, and improved reporting. Discussions included concerns related to public harassment, online targeting, vandalism, and bias-motivated threats affecting faith communities.
The visit comes as Illinois continues to see a significant rise in reported hate crimes in recent years.
Community members are encouraged to attend the upcoming Asian American Community Safety Roundtable on May 29, 2026, from 10:00 to11:30 AM at Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street, Skokie, IL 60077. The event is hosted by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office Hate Crime Unit in partnership with community organizations and is open to all residents.
